Holiday Radeon, a Fujifilm Film Simulation Recipe Inspired by Summer Shades

This recipe started with a pair of sunglasses.

I picked them up before a trip and couldn’t get over how good the world looked through them, warm, balanced, a bit hazy, and relaxing. I wanted to recreate that look through the lens of my Fujifilm X100VI. So I built a custom film simulation that would capture it straight out of the camera.

The Starting Point

I based this on Kodak Vericolor Warm, originally shared by Ritchie Roesch for the X-T5. That recipe had the warmth I was after, but I needed something that would suit a Mediterranean-type climate, play nicely with hard light, and feel a bit more modern.

I adjusted it to better suit the X100VI’s colour science and my own style. This became Holiday Radeon, a warm, sunglasses-inspired recipe that works best on bright days, sea walks, tiled balconies, and late sun.

Where I Used It

I tested it properly during a recent trip to Gran Canaria. A few photos that stand out.

The recipe handled all of them well. In bright conditions, it flattens harsh contrast and keeps colours feeling soft and natural, especially on white walls and skin tones.

Why It Works

This filter brings warmth without killing detail, making it suitable for direct sun and shadow. It softens skin tones without turning them red or orange, making it perfect for warm climates, coastal walks, and mid-morning café stops. The JPEG output is great, I didn’t edit any of these images.

Final Thoughts

This recipe isn’t aiming for realism. It’s about mood. It makes you feel like you’re on a warm break, even if you’re just shooting at home on a sunny day. If you’ve ever looked through tinted lenses and thought I wish my photos looked like this, try it.

Next time you’re packing light and heading to the sun, load up Holiday Radeon and shoot JPEG only. You won’t need to touch Lightroom.
